The XTERRA Race Loop – 2016 is located on site at the Georgian Nordic Outdoor Activity Centre. This is the route that was used in the 2016 edition of the XTERRA Parry Sound race as well as the Summer Sounder. It consists of a balanced mix of doubletrack and technical singletrack. The doubletrack is largely on wide ski trails with ample room to pass. The singletrack is all purpose-built, MTB-specific trail. It mostly follows the natural contours of the granite terrain – and there is certainly plenty of exposed granite! On a couple of sections, boardwalks have been built to cross sensitive wetlands. Ramps also exist to facilitate climbing onto or descending from some of the granite ridges. Faster racers can complete the course in under 40 minutes, but novice riders will find the singletrack sections challenging.
