Description
The 45NRTH/Cannondale Fat Bike Race Loop is located on site at the Georgian Nordic Outdoor Activity Centre and was the race route used for this winter event held in January 2019. This race course encompasses nordic ski trails at GNOAC, some of which were ridden in reverse direction compared to the “usual” ski direction. It was a closed course on race day, but if interested in this route riders should check with the trail attendant before riding the course.
The course itself features some very interesting terrain, and will provide a suitable challenge for all riders. The terrain is rolling and there are a number of moderate hills in the loop – experienced riders should be able to ride up all of them, but less-strong climbers may have to walk up the steepest parts. The loop is predominantly on backcountry nordic trails, but they included a section of beautiful singletrack up and over some fantastic pre-Cambrian granite ridges (approximately kms 5-6), followed by a challenging 500m section of serpentine singletrack that will require riders to modulate speed appropriately (smooth=fast).
Please note: a day pass or membership is required to ride this trail. For details click here.
