Ride the Old Nipissing Road; Magnetawan to Bummer’s Roost

In the early days, Discovery Routes worked with local organizations to have the Old Nipissing “Ghost” Road designated as part of the Trans Canada Trail. It became one of the first sections in Canada to be realized as part of the national trail system. So fittingly, we are celebrating The Great Trail’s final connection by riding this historic trail 18km from Magnetawan to Bummer’s Roost. Riders will leave from the Trans Canada Trail pavilion at the Community Centre in Magnetawan at 10:15am. Shuttle service will be available for riders that only want to ride one way.

A mountain bike is recommended as parts of the old road are only slightly less rugged than the pioneers would have experienced in years gone by!
